"Hello there!

I’m Denise Arico. I got the opportunity to do a postdoc at the Laboratoire de Recherche en Sciences Végétales. I came from Argentina, I crossed the Atlantic Ocean and the Equator to arrive in Toulouse for the first time; alone with my luggage and without speaking French. You feel a mixture of sensations, from the adrenaline rush of a new start away from your beloved home and folks, to the overwhelming process of getting settled, with the difficulties of having the language barrier. And everything in between, it is exciting and reckless at the same time. Luckily, I found very kind people who helped me and made me feel welcome. My supervisor opened a Toul’Box account for me so that I could have assistance in the search of apartment, the transport card, the SIM chip for the mobile phone, the opening of the bank account and all the administrative procedures. It was much easier to go through all this with Toul’Box. And I was really pleased to have someone behind the computer who guided me in my first weeks in France, and who I could ask for information and advice whenever something unforeseen happened."
